Week 8: Training Log

Total distance:  28.87km of running + 10km of cycling

This week just did not go as planned.  With the world starting to reopen and a few more work demands on my time it just wasn’t nearly as easy to get in the distance this week!

Monday - Rest Day

Tuesday - Whooops.

  • I planned to run Tuesday evening since Tuesday morning was gross and rainy…totally forgetting that had actual plans out in the world (its a real shock to the system!) Next time this happens I need to remember to jump on my spin bike for a quick peloton ride to make up the workout!

Wednesday - 9.8km 

  • Just a super gorgeous and sunny morning 9.8km (7’04/km) up the canal. Only wish I had checked my distance and done the last 200m to round out the 10k!

Thursday - Peloton Tabata

  • A quick 20min Tabata ride to get in those early morning intervals. 

Friday - 5.1km 

  • Busy day at work and heading out for a weekend of camping so I only managed to put in a short 5.1km (7’02/km) in the morning. 

Saturday - 13.9km Hike

  • I don’t usually have bad days of hiking but this one HURT! False advertising on the name of the trail - it was called the Lakeshore Trail but really only hugged the coastline for a couple of kilometres. The rest went through the woods and, hiking it after a heavy night of thunderstorms,  we got absolutely eaten alive. I also screwed up my hydration for this one - I was already a bit dehydrated leaving camp and we definitely were not carrying enough water. Between that and the mosquitos I was a very unhappy hiker. 

Sunday - Rest Day

  • Driving from camping to the cottage for a fathers day celebration took most of the day. Got in a quick swim and a bit of paddle boarding, but nothing I would call a “workout.”
